Will the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honor “Avatar,” “Hurt Locker” or another of the 10 best picture nominees? Test your skills at predicting the Oscars in the Observer’s annual Pick the Winners contest.
You have four chances to win with this ballot. First, Upickem has a national contest, and the winner gets a collection of all the Best Picture Oscar winners on DVD. Then locally, Regal Entertainment Group, which has 11 theaters in the Charlotte area, will supply prizes: first place is a movie a week for two for a year (104 passes); two runners-up will get two passes each.
Winners of the local prizes are chosen by random drawing from a combination of correct online and newspaper ballots. Winners will be announced in CLT on March 14. Deadline for this ballot: 8 p.m. Sunday, March 7.
