Soon the school house doors will open. Some of us recall with fondness -- or horror -- that very first day mom or dad ushered us into that brave new world.
Tell us your favorite first day of school memory. It could be about you, your child, or someone else. We will print some of the best entries in The Charlotte Observer.
BASIC RULES: Contestants may enter up to three essays per e-mail address.

Grand prize: Two tickets to the Justin Bieber concert on Sunday, Aug. 8, 7 p.m.
Runner-up prizes: Two runner-ups will receive a $50 Target gift certificate just in time to help pay for school supplies.
